We are roughly 18 months from seeing the end of the pandemic. For good or ill our world has been changed. Civil liberties were curtailed in the face of the pandemic, economic dislocation occurred and hundreds of thousands of people lost their lives. Many more became ill with the long term effects of the illness still unknown. When I retired I built a high tech bastion to survive the adverse events of the new century in rural New Hampshire. This bastion consists of a house and farm that are on the cutting edge of technology and bio science. It is linked to the internet and has a global multi-spectrum communication capability built into it. Now that the end of the pandemic is in site. I am restructuring investments to maximize profits in order to better secure our quality of life as we get older. I am taking advantage of pandemic inflated prices to reap a tidy profit from a rental property that I have in Connecticut. I will be selling this property in a few days and using the funds to buy a home in Florida were we will spend the winters. Despite all we have survived the pandemic in our bastion with little to no impact on our quality of life. Now that the end of the pandemic is in sight we are going to cash our assets to further enhance our quality of life.

When we buy our house in Florida we will be leaving our bastion and entering a post pandemic world. This world is greatly changed. Our new home will be a smart home and highly energy efficient. We will retain our bastion here in Northern New Hampshire in the event of further adverse occurrences but feel it is time to rejoin the greater world.

I had a exceptional dialog with a financing specialist and will be prequalifying for a mortgage in 4 months to purchase a home in Florida. Once we sell our rental property we will be re-structuring and retiring short term debt and amassing close to a quarter of a million dollars for a down payment on our Florida home.

I post this here in order to illustrate what is possible to do with hard work and limited resources as a disabled veteran.
